On September 17, 2026, at the Sala dei Notari in Perugia, this series of conferences will be opened exclusively by one of the most important Indian and world writers: Amitav Ghosh.

Amitav Ghosh addresses one of the crucial questions of our time, intertwining historical analysis, literary criticism, and personal reflection.

At the heart of modernity, he explains, a concept of "realism" has emerged that, with its faith in rationality and progress, has banished exceptions and disasters. Consequently, fiction has left the natural world, and the planetary scale, out of its pages. This exclusion has given rise to a cultural blindness that still prevents us from truly imagining the ecological crisis: climate change is not just a topic for scientists or activists, but a challenge for writers, readers, and citizens.
