D.K. Harrell Blues Band

For the first time in Italy and in national exclusivity, one of the diamond points of the new generation of African-American bluesman, one of the most sought-after musicians currently on the world blues scene. A dazzling rise is that of DK Harrell, whose debut album, "The Right Man", recorded with an all-star line-up that included bassist Jerry Jemmott (who played on the original recording of "The Thrill Is Gone" by B.B.King, and a member of the bands of Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and King Curtis), drummer Tony Coleman (30 years in the King band) and organist Jim Pugh (in the band of Etta James and Robert Cray), quickly gained critical acclaim worldwide and became the second most listened blues album on US radio in 2023. Originally from Louisiana, deep in the south of the States, D.K. Harrell, for his style, is considered the most worthy heir to B.B.King and, with other young emerging as, among others, Christone Kingfish Ingram, Jontavious Willis, Marquise Knox, Solomon Hicks, is powerfully animating the new American blues scene. In 2024, Harrell was awarded best emerging artist at the prestigious Blues Music Awards celebration held by the Blues Foundation of Memphis. His passionate live sets reflect his love of the blues and there is a wave of joy in his songs that spills over to the audience. It is this connection that is building its fame on the international circuit. Along the way, Harrell has also attracted some high profile fans such as Charlie Musselwhite, Bobby Rush, Susan Tedeschi and Chris Cain. Al Trasimeno, with his full line-up, will present the new album, released in June, "Talkin' Heavy", published by the prestigious Alligator Records.
