Daniele Zepparelli e DEC - Amo colui che anela all’impossibile. Prima Lezione sul Faust

Only the lawyer of a little devil named Mephistopheles could defend this unworthy representative of the infernal hierarchy—incapable of true rebellion and known solely for having always been the companion, or rather the servant, of Faust.

Daniele Zepparelli and the Decs have crafted a unique show—a world premiere produced by Made In De Rerum Natura—that takes the form of a musical lecture set to the tune of the Rolling Stones’ *Sympathy for the Devil*. Here, the perspective is flipped: it is Faust who tempts the devil, driven by man’s eternal quest for beauty. And beauty, as we know, dwells in hell.

We will retrace the history of the pact with the devil, moving from Marlowe to Goethe and on to the twentieth century. We will not speak in favor of Faust—that man who seeks to transcend every limit—no; instead, we will take the side of Mephistopheles. We will demonstrate how this poor little devil is capable of bestowing love and beauty through music, moonlight, and dreams—as Pessoa might put it—allowing him to exist and to scream, a muffled cry rising above our fears, of his eternal life far removed from heaven.
