“Apart from my mother, she is the only woman I have ever loved.” Pier Paolo Pasolini said this about Maria Callas, who reciprocated with a devastating and destructive power. Destructive to herself. There are many, mysterious and unclassifiable forms that love can take and that we are only recently beginning to understand. Fifty years after Pasolini’s death, this concert aims to be a tribute, a story, a confession in two voices: the reciting voice of David Riondino, who will give body to Pasolini’s words, and the eternal voice of Maria Callas, evoked through the most famous opera arias she performed. The chosen pieces – from Bellini to Puccini, from Verdi to Cherubini – are true love monologues, interior dramas that intertwine with the poet’s letters, reflections and passions.
