Domenico Scarpa - Primo Levi remastered

Novecento is the new format created by the Umbria Green Festival's Literary Café to showcase the great authors of the past century.

Primo Levi Remastered is a journey through the work and life of one of the greatest writers of the past century.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Spello and is part of "Incontri per le strade," the village's rich summer program.

Primo Levi's work is like a constellation, rich in light and depth. Domenico Scarpa draws its clusters and explores its spaces, offering us the opportunity to experience a unique day in memory of this great writer and thinker, one of the most sensitive and concrete figures in Italian literature.

Domenico Scarpa is the literary consultant for the International Center for Primo Levi Studies in Turin. He has edited volumes, editorial series, staged readings, theater series, documentaries, and exhibitions about Levi. In 2022, he published Bibliografia di Primo Levi ovvero Il primo Atlante (Bibliography of Primo Levi, or The First Atlas) with Einaudi, for whose paperback series he is editing the apparatus for a uniform edition of Levi's works. In 2023, Hoepli published Calvino Fa la Conchiglia. The Construction of a Writer. In 2010, Gaffi published his collection of essays, Storie avventurose di libri necessari (Adventurous Stories of Necessary Books). He has edited works by Antelme, Bassani, Berto, Breton, Calvino, Gadda, Garboli, Lucentini, Parise, Rea, Sciascia, Soldati, and Stevenson for various publishers. In 2019, he edited the Opere di bottega (Works of the Workshop) by Fruttero & Lucentini for the Mondadori publishing house «Meridiani», where his new editions of I fer del mestiere. Manuale involontario di scrivere con Esercizi Sforzati (Einaudi Paperbacks) and I Nottambuli (Meridiani Mondadori) have just been released. For Einaudi he edits the works of Natalia Ginzburg and for Sellerio those of Graham Greene.
