Giza. La punta dell'Iceberg

A team of researchers composed of Filippo Biondi, Armando Mei and Corrado Malanga have combined their skills and experience to investigate what no one had previously had the ability or courage to tackle. In some previous works – including books and a scientific article published in an international journal – Malanga, Mei and Biondi had already explored the history of the Giza Plateau, connecting the monumental constructions to the ancient astronomical knowledge of the Egyptian people.

This time, however, they have gone a step further: thanks to advanced technologies derived from the aerospace industry and an innovative approach that transforms electromagnetic information into phonon spectroscopy, they have managed to observe the interior of the pyramid of Khnum Khufu, revealing hidden structures that had remained invisible for centuries. These are elements inside the monument that Egyptologists had been looking for for years, using non-invasive techniques.

The idea of ​​using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to explore the interior of ancient Egyptian megalithic monuments has pushed the three researchers to deploy their skills to understand the real internal structure of the pyramid of Khafre. The goal: to insert the main constructions of the Giza Plateau into a broader and more accurate historical context of ancient Egypt.

The results of this historical-scientific approach will be presented on July 27 in Spoleto, during an important event at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti, organized by the Cultural Association Visioni d’Autore per Spoleto Olistica.
