Event information

The Journey of Don Quixote is a show that traverses dream and reality, restoring theater to its most ancient function: giving voice to the least fortunate, the undocumented, the visionaries. A work that speaks to those who resist, to those who imagine, to those who continue to believe in the strength of their ideals even when the world seems to be shifting. Written by Rosario Galli, an author and director who has been active in the contemporary theater scene for years, with a language capable of combining commitment, poetry, and civic narrative, the show draws freely from the universe of Miguel de Cervantes, renewing its themes with a contemporary twist. At the center of the stage is Don Quixote, a young contemporary man who brings to life the ghosts of his imagination as he works on his work. Together with Sancho, he embarks on a real and interior journey in search of the eyes of Dulcinea, a symbol essential to his creation. Through encounters and visions, a portrait of today's society emerges, culminating in the realization that freedom also comes from breaking away from technological dependence. A poetic and contemporary show that pays homage to the "forgotten heroes" and dreamers of all time, transforming the stage into a space of resistance, imagination, and truth.

Event organizer: Ameria 1782 - Teatro delle Arti

Teatro Sociale di Amelia

The Amerino Theater is one of the rare surviving examples of an 18th-century theater built entirely of wood, from the structures to the stage mechanisms still in perfect working order. For this reason, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage has declared it a monument of particular historical and artistic interest.

The Teatro Sociale, until 2020, was owned by the same Theater Society from which it takes its name, founded for its construction. Today, it is owned by the State, which granted it in 2023 to the Cultural Association "Ameria1782 il Teatro delle Art." The theater has hosted all the major works of the Italian and European lyric repertoire, with the participation of great opera singers, as well as symphonic and chamber music performances.

Also worth mentioning is the frequent use of the large stage for filming: it has been calculated that 42 films and television series have been shot here, some of which are very well known to the Italian public, such as The Adventures of Pinocchio by Luigi Comencini with Nino Manfredi (1972) and The Marchese del Grillo by Mario Monicelli with Alberto Sordi (1981).
