As part of the 27th edition of the Renaissance Festival,
the San Cristoforo theater company is performing "La Mandragola" by Niccolò Machiavelli.

Completed around 1518, La Mandragola is considered the masterpiece of Renaissance theater and one of the greatest comedies in Italian literature. Behind its comic and mocking structure, Niccolò Machiavelli applies the same disenchanted realism and political pragmatism found in The Prince to private life and social customs.
The story takes place in Florence in 1504. Young Callimaco is madly in love with Lucrezia, a beautiful, honest, and devoted woman married to the rich and foolish law professor Messer Nicia. The couple's main problem is their inability to have children.
