Le Tre Madri - Opera rock

The show, in two acts, is characterized by time shifts that lead the spectator to retrace the life of Jesus and the two thieves, often narrated from the point of view of Dismas, the good thief, and Gesta, the "bad" one, who from the crosses, between pain and delirium, remember the childhood encounters with the Messiah who they will find themselves next to shortly thereafter, condemned to the same punishment. The three mothers are Mary, Leah and Hannah. Parents of three very different children, but mothers in the same way and with the same pain inside, given the fate of their loved ones. In the middle, the unsuccessful attempt of Nicodemus to free Mary Magdalene with an exorcism, possessed by seven demons. Then the doubts of Nicodemus himself in seeing Jesus succeed where he had failed, but also Dismas' attempt to undertake a more upright life, an effort made vain by the temptation to participate in Barabbas' rebellion together with Gesta. After a short prologue that brings us back to the current war situation in the areas where the story takes place, the scene of the annunciation is moving and evocative, in which a young Mary finds herself dreaming of having two other mothers next to her who lift their unborn children. From here the story begins, in which there will be a strong reference to current issues such as disability, in the scene of the healed paralytic, and the morbidity of young people towards electronic devices. In the musical, the last supper magically becomes the digital last supper, with Jesus desperately urging his disciples: "Let go of those phones. Live in the moment, listen to your heart. The hours pass quickly. I offer love, not just noise", he sings vehemently. Then comes the Passion of Christ, told in a rock key. A melodic rock with situations made suggestive by plays of light taken care of in the smallest details, such as Judas' repentance in front of Mary who desperately tries to explain to the "traitor" that paying with her life will not bring her son back to life. All the scenes are full of pathos and the epilogue is obviously the one we all know, but accompanied by an emotion that only the theater can give. A work at times provocative, bold, with very important messages directed especially at young people.
