Lettere a Dino Campana

Novecento is the new format of the Umbria Green Festival created to tell the story of the great authors who have lived through the past century.

Letters to Dino Campana is an impossible and imaginary dialogue. An event featuring radio, reading, lectures, and performances that alternates original words with words from the writings of the chosen author. Letters to… builds an intimacy between authors, narrator, and audience; it brings the pleasure of literature back to the personal level, addressing with sincerity and simplicity the strong reasons that bind us to reading. It shows us how certain authors can become true references, and their texts, interviews, diaries, letters are things that speak to us, that guide us: we can love them and feel betrayed, learn and want to forget, hide our fears or, as often happens to us, confide in them.

Dino Campana: solitude and travel. That need, which is the weapon of the poorest, to leave. Running away without ever being able to do it all the way, without ever truly freeing oneself from one's life, without knowing how to rebuild: Every way is always already a return. Campana frames his Orphic, visionary poetry in a context in which nature and the city, the rock, events, human beings are fixed with a pictorial precision, an obsessive insistence that comes to make them shine with their own light. A clarity that manifests itself only in distance, in detachment; ours are letters that speak of the anxiety of escape, the anxiety of poetry, and how these are united in a paradoxical, rare, and painful privilege: that of being truly alone.
