Marion Poschmann - Una nuova poesia sulla natura

Umbria Green Festival launches a new series of meetings with authors from around the world, becoming an international festival to discuss nature, climate change, and our times.

Fedrinelli Publishers Perugia welcomes Marion Poschmann, one of the greatest German-language authors, thanks to a collaboration with Del Vecchio Editore.

Daniele Piccini (literary critic and poet) and Federica Rocchi (researcher and expert in German literature) will be in conversation with the author.

Marion Poschmann lives and works in Berlin. From 1989 to 1992, she studied German and Slavic literature and philosophy at the University of Bonn, and from 1992 to 1995, she specialized in Berlin. She is a member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature, the German Academy of Language and Literature, the Hamburg Academy of the Arts, and the Pen Center Germany. A versatile author, she has published several collections of poems, essays, novels, and short stories. She has received all the major German awards for prose and poetry, including the Peter Huchel Prize, the Ernst Mesiter Prize, and the Berliner Literatur Prize. In 2019, she was shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize with her novel The Pine Islands (Bompiani 2018, translated by Dario Borso). Her major works include: Baden bei Gewitter (2002), Schwarzweißroman (2005), Hundenovelle (2008: “Dogs of the Sky”, Milan, Cairo, 2009, translated by Margherita Belardetti), Die Sonnenposition (2013), Die Kieferninseln (2017: “The Pine Islands”, Milan, Bompiani, 2019, translated by Dario Borso). For poetry: Verschlossene Kammern (2002), Grund zu Schafen (2004), Geistersehen (2010). Her collection Geliehene Landschaften (“Landscapes on Loan”, edited and translated by Paola Del Zoppo) is forthcoming from Del Vecchio. For this collection and for the exceptional volume of essays Mondbetrachtung in Mondloser Nacht, Marion Poschmann was awarded the 2017 “German Prize for Nature Writing,” a prize, as the name itself suggests, dedicated exclusively to nature literature, which highlights works in which the themes of nature and the environment are expressed in convincing aesthetics and of particular poetic effectiveness. Her poetry collection Nimbus, in which the poetry of nature finds fulfillment in its conjunction with the space of “poetic song,” has just been published in Germany (February 2020).
