At the world's smallest theater, the Umbria Green Festival has chosen to discuss Peace, Justice, and Solid Institutions (Goal 16 of the 2030 Agenda).
And it will be a great author: Nicola Lagioia, with his Lectio Magistralis entitled:
"War as a Disease of the Species"
We have become accustomed to interpreting wars in geopolitical terms. However, when it comes to understanding what truly makes up our dark hearts, literature can also help us. From Genesis to the Iliad, from Leo Tolstoy to Svetlana Alexievich, from Carl Gustav Jung to Simone Weil, Nicola Lagioia retraces 2,500 years of literature, attempting to interpret our destructive (and self-destructive) attitude not only as a problem linked to the contexts in which wars unfold, but as a disease of the species to which we belong. Can we ever recover?
