This evening we will walk the paths suggested by the poets who have made travel a literary genre. The words will dialogue with the music making us immerse in the transparent and aquatic atmospheres of Debussy, the delicacy of the nocturnal ones of John Field and the furious wind of some preludes of Chopin. We will meet Baudelaire for whom the departure is incessant search of another dimension, Whitman who makes it a possibility of acquaintance and of falling in love and of course Stevenson poet of the trip par excellence, and then Cendras and Dickinson, To reach the archetype of the journey that is described in the Odyssey, where the hero shipwrecked after so much wandering is reunited with himself only once he returns home. Even Dante’s Ulysses finds the ultimate meaning in returning, but unlike the Homeric poem, the return to Ithaca does not fully satisfy him: he goes back out to sea at an advanced age together with his companions, pushing himself beyond the Columns of Hercules, towards the mountain of Purgatory, Towards borders that no one had ever dared to cross, not to escape from reality but for the sake of knowledge...
