Peter and the Wolf is a fable for actor and orchestra by Sergei Prokofiev. This work was first performed in 1936 in Moscow, at a children's concert that aroused great interest among critics and audiences. This composition is a true "musical fairy tale," telling the story of Peter who, with the help of a little bird, captures a dangerous wolf. The actor narrates the tale while the music comments on each scene, illustrating the character, feelings, and describing the actions of each character: Peter, Sasha the little bird, Sonia the duck, Ivan the cat, Grandfather, the Wolf, and the hunters. "This is a musical fairy tale, and since all fairy tales have characters, in this one each of them is represented by a different musical instrument" (Sergei Prokofiev). The direction aims to restore to this great work the extraordinary ability to enchant in a marvelous dance, in a refined interplay between the actor and the sounds of the orchestra and the colors, which leaves room for melancholy, comedy, and tenderness. The lights will create magical atmospheres and make a fundamental contribution to this journey into an enchanting world that with disarming simplicity brings us back to the natural cycle of life and nature
