Event information
Seconda Classe is the new show by Controcanto Collettivo, a Roman company founded in 2011 as a continuation of a laboratory led by Clara Sancricca and which, year after year, is conquering the Italian theater scene by bringing to the stage, using an essential and refined language, original and profound narratives about humanity.
Seconda classe is an exploration of the theme of wealth, luxury, and its exclusivity. That some have a lot and others very little or even nothing is a paradox in which we live, to the point that we would be ready to be shocked (some even alarmed) by its possible disappearance. This centuries-old habit of injustice has meant that the effort to eradicate it (which has historically existed in good theories and often bad practices) has been replaced by the attempt to inhabit it and, possibly, ride it, each according to their own means, steps, and possibilities.
From this perspective, the desirability of a good is not tied solely to its nature, aesthetics, or utility, but to the desire and guarantee that that good remains the privilege of the few, and extending the possibility of enjoying it to others is detrimental to its desirability. Privilege, in short, to remain such, must be "exclusive"—that is, excluding—and therefore reserved for the few.
The first class exists in function of the second, and without the latter, it would have no measure of its wealth, because the true content of wealth seems to be, first and foremost, the certainty—and the inexplicable relief that comes from it—that others have less.

Teatro Sociale di Amelia
The Amerino Theater is one of the rare surviving examples of an 18th-century theater built entirely of wood, from the structures to the stage mechanisms still in perfect working order. For this reason, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage has declared it a monument of particular historical and artistic interest.
The Teatro Sociale, until 2020, was owned by the same Theater Society from which it takes its name, founded for its construction. Today, it is owned by the State, which granted it in 2023 to the Cultural Association "Ameria1782 il Teatro delle Art." The theater has hosted all the major works of the Italian and European lyric repertoire, with the participation of great opera singers, as well as symphonic and chamber music performances.
Also worth mentioning is the frequent use of the large stage for filming: it has been calculated that 42 films and television series have been shot here, some of which are very well known to the Italian public, such as The Adventures of Pinocchio by Luigi Comencini with Nino Manfredi (1972) and The Marchese del Grillo by Mario Monicelli with Alberto Sordi (1981).
