Meo Boccuccia's Theatre Company presents
"A little for fun, a little to avoid dying" is a famous quip by Ettore
Petrolini and the title of his last memoir, published in 1936,
the year of his death. A phrase that encapsulates not only his humor,
but also his way of looking at life and theater.
The staging is a relentless ride through 12 of
Petrolini's most iconic characters, intertwining texts, songs, and
images. A journey into the man and the artist, a precursor of Futurism and
the Theater of the Absurd, the inventor of nonsense and phonetic virtuosity,
the founder of modern comedy.
A theatrical tribute that seeks not to be an end, but a means: to
know, reflect, be moved, and have fun, recreating that profound
bond between actor and spectator that for Petrolini was the very essence of
theater.
Based on the play, songs, and members of Ettore Petrolini. Edited by
Alessio Tempesta.
