As part of the 27th edition of the Renaissance Festival,
the Porta Vecchia theater company is performing "Utopia," by Thomas Moore.
Directed by Massimo Manini
Published in 1516, Utopia is the masterpiece of the English humanist Thomas More (Thomas More). The book, written in Latin, is divided into two parts and is structured like a philosophical dialogue.
The title itself is a brilliant play on words invented by More: it derives from the Greek and can mean both "place that does not exist" (ou-topos) and "happy place" (eu-topos)
