Valerio Mieli – Scelgo tutto

Umbria Green Festival brings another great author to the Literary Café: Valerio Mieli, Italian director, screenwriter, and novelist. Winner of the David di Donatello and Nastro d'argento awards in 2009 for his debut work, "Ten Winters" (a book of the same name was published the same year), and the Audience Award at the Venice Film Festival's Giornate degli Autori in 2018 for the film "Ricordi?", starring Luca Marinelli.

"Do you ever think about where you would be if you had chosen a different path? What if, instead of staying here, you had given up everything and left? Who would you be today?"

A moving novel about two possible lives: Cosmo returns to his hometown after a year at university. An older woman suggests he turn his life around, and from there his life unravels like sliding doors: in one case, he stays in town with Sabina, his wonderful lifelong girlfriend, and they have children at a young age and in his later years. In the other, he follows the woman to France, into her adventurous world as an artist, which leads him to live in the woods. Thus, the two lives unfold, amid laughter, great joys, and great sorrows. Two parallel lives that will inevitably be crossed by a decisive encounter. In the end, which choice will have been the right one? "I Choose Everything" is a novel about the burning desire to live without giving up anything. It's the moving story of how we learn to know ourselves through our choices.
