“WE ALL LOVE ENNIO MORRICONE”
The story of a CD, an Oscar, and 250 concerts around the world
In 2001, at just over 72 years old, Ennio Morricone made a decisive change in his career and his life. He embarked on an endless world tour that would lead him to conduct his own music in concert as never before. A few years later, he won an Oscar and became a true global star.
Who was behind all this?
In June 2023, Luigi Caiola's book "We all Love Ennio Morricone" was published in Italy. It is dedicated to his collaboration with the Maestro, whom he managed from 1997 to 2015. This marked the first time the Maestro had a full-fledged concert career, culminating in his first Oscar win in 2007. Caiola also released 15 albums, including the CD "We all Love Ennio Morricone," which features not only the Maestro himself but also international artists who each perform, in their own unique way, some of Morricone's most famous pieces (Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Chris Botti, Eumir Deodato, Bruce Springsteen, Celine Dion, Roger Waters, Andrea Bocelli, Yo-Yo Ma, and others).
Many artists around the world are performing a multitude of concerts dedicated to Ennio Morricone's music; few, however, can boast a professional, artistic, and human collaboration with him.
And this is precisely the distinctive element of "We All Love Ennio Morricone," based on the music from the CD, performed with orchestrations faithful to the originals written or approved by the Maestro himself, by some of the musicians who worked with him for decades in the studio and live.
They are joined by the Pax Orchestra and students from the Conservatories of Terni and Perugia, conducted by Maestro Ludovico Fulci.
The show features some of Morricone's most famous songs, including: Once Upon a Time in the West; The Good, the Bad and the Ugly; Duck, You Sucker!; The Ecstasy of Gold; The Mission; Once Upon a Time in America; Cinema Paradiso; Metti, una sera a cena; Malena; Se, Telefonando...
The musical performance is interspersed with brief comments from actor-narrator Luigi Petrucci, who recounts events and anecdotes from Caiola's book, and a screening of the video interview "My life, my music", where Maestro Morricone talks about him self and his music.
