Chanda Rule & Sweet Emma Band

With feet rooted in Gospel, a heart full of Soul, and a voice blessed by Jazz, singer-songwriter Chanda Rule has been weaving stories through song since her childhood in Chicago. Her enchanting voice has graced various musical projects and she has shared the stage with the likes of Kamasi Washington, India Arie, Regina Belle and The Whispers. From her latest project, “The Sweet Emma Band”, came her latest album, 'Hold On', a combination of refined gospel and rearranged work songs in which the lush melodies and rhythmic influences of New Orleans, in her style refreshingly, they blend with the traditional values ​​of the jazz lineage updated in modern versions. The Sweet Emma Band, whose name is a tribute to New Orleans jazz pianist Sweet Emma Barret and her Preservation Hall Jazz Band, is made up of horns, grooves and keys (those of Jan Korinek's Hammond organ) who embark on a journey towards the deepest soul of Black Music, starting from the roots of "old school" Soul and Spiritual, passing through revisited traditional African songs, up to the most transgressive forms of Blues, in its New Orleans style version.
