Eric Bibb

With more than five decades of musicianship, more than 30 albums released, three Grammy nominations, including 2024 for the album “ Ridin' ” in the “Best Traditional Blues” category, and a legacy deeply rooted in the movement for civil rights, Bibb brings more than just music to the stage: his melodies resonate with questions of change, unity and hope, making each chord strike deeply into the listener's heart. His latest album “ Ridin' ”, awarded a nomination at the 2024 Grammy Awards in the “Best Traditional Blues” category, featured collaborations with artists such as Taj Mahal, Jontavious Willis, Steve Jordan, Tommy Sims, Harrison Kennedy, Russell Malone and Habib Koite. His songs address the themes of love, peace and social justice. Bibb forged his artistic and cultural sensitivity in the context in which he grew up; his father Leon was an activist and folk singer who marched in Selma alongside Martin Luther King; he spent his youth immersed in the Greenwich Village folk scene; Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and Pete Seeger were often guests at his house. His music has been deeply influenced by artists such as Odetta, Richie Havens and Taj Mahal, synthesizing all this in his Blues, which incorporates elements of Folk, Soul, Gospel and Jazz, with a personal style that distinguishes him in the panorama of black African-American music thanks to a warm and engaging voice, a refined guitar technique and the authenticity and emotional depth that he transmits in all his performances. Over the course of his extraordinary career, Eric Bibb has traveled often unexplored terrain, encountering other cultures and many great musicians. In this sense, the 2012 concert at Trasimeno Blues with Habib Koité is memorable, one of the highest artistic moments in the history of the festival. For this long-awaited return to Trasimeno he will be accompanied by Staffan Astner on electric guitar, Desmond Foster on bass and Paul Robinson on drums; special guest Ulrica Bibb on vocals.
