Samba Tourè

Samba Touré is a guitarist, singer and composer from Mali. His distinctive style is widely regarded, both at home and abroad, as the heir to the legendary Ali Farka Touré, father of Desert Blues, with whom he played for almost 10 years. In his solo activity he recorded 6 albums creating a harmonious blend of Niger River Blues, traditional Songhaî themes and Western influences, characterizing himself for a relaxing and hypnotic style, in which the sound of the guitar draws circular riffs that seem timeless, a praise of the natural rhythms of life. Coming from the area of ​​the legendary city of Timbuktu, Samba Touré, in his songs, crossed by a melancholic mood and, at the same time, supported by a strong desire for redemption, in a modern version of the griot tradition, addresses the most heartfelt themes of the his people, those linked to religious extremism, the limitation of freedom, the role of women, alcohol abuse, youth emigration. The latest album, "Binga", released in 2021 by "Glitterbeat Records", is a tribute to his land of origin, played with the support of traditional instruments, such as the ngoni and the kalabash, from which a raw and graceful sound arises , sometimes austere, capable of emphasizing, with short and sharp flashes, instrumental escapes, in the context of a harmonious ensemble. Recently one of his songs, "Albala", was chosen for the soundtrack of "Io Capitano" by Matteo Garrone. For the first time at the Trasimeno Blues Festival, Samba Touré will be accompanied by Djimé Sissoko (ngoni and tamani) and Souleymane Kane (calabash, djembe).
