Serena Dandini - La Vendetta Delle Muse

UMBRIA GREEN FESTIVAL continues its FOCUS on GOALS 5 and 10 of AGENDA 2030 by hosting SERENA DANDINI with her latest book: LA VENDETTA DELLE MUSE.

“I wanted to be Marianne Faithfull”. This was the desire of Serena Dandini as a teenager, while, in a gray classroom, she dreamed of experiencing the transgressive deeds of the one she had chosen as her personal muse.

Because, since always, muses have been necessary. But if at the dawn of civilization poets invoked goddesses to draw inspiration, with the passing of time the role of muse has been entrusted to mortals. Loved, wanted, abandoned, idolized, portrayed in magnificent canvases, sung in unforgettable verses, but always as – wonderful – objects, whose human dimension could be serenely ignored. Instead they were women of flesh and blood, with dreams, passions, impulses and life, so much life.

Serena Dandini decides to turn her gaze on them and, in the manner of Copernicus, carries out a revolution, putting the muse back at the center of her universe, finally no longer an object but a subject. Dandini ranges between eras and places, from Baroque Rome to swinging London, from the fiery South America of the 19th-century revolts to the shining Los Angeles of the 1970s, passing through the Paris of the avant-garde. Often starting from her life and her experiences, alternating epic and irony, Dandini connects Marianne Faithfull and her infinite capacity to resist to Anita Garibaldi and her warrior exploits; Colette, who reclaimed the fruits of her genius, stolen by her husband, to Sophie Germain and the other scientists expropriated by their colleagues. A legitimate revenge of extraordinary women, who populate these pages with their stories, sometimes exhilarating, sometimes moving, capable of arousing indignation or inspiring the noblest feelings, but above all of moving.
