Event information
The theater project Non è Amore was born from a reflection determined by a global problem, violence against women: “Femminicidio”. A careful social analysis of this ruthless and brutal phenomenon traces its origins back to a patriarchal education, which implements violent behaviors towards women up to the point of crime.
It is from these premises that, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the production of Athanor Eventi has created the show entitled “Non è amore”.
“How many women, at least once in their lives, have felt in danger because of a man? And on that occasion, what did they do? Did they react? Did they report? Did they ask for help from the Anti-Violence Centers? Or, having escaped the danger, did they simply change direction promising themselves that it would never happen again?
“Non è amore” starts from these questions, apparently simple, but which involve most women intimately and personally.
The show is a participatory reflection on gender violence and feminicides in Italy which, referring to the Umbria region, although small in terms of population, is in 12th place in the annual ranking for the number of feminicides committed.
The author Stefano Porri reveals some features of the show:
“Non è amore” elaborates its dramaturgy around four stories of violence against women, which actually happened in Umbria, chosen and told by the actress Cristina Caldani in collaboration with the Anti-Violence Centers of Umbria. The women protagonists of the stories narrated, have succeeded, thanks to the support of the CAV, in undertaking a path of liberation from violence and self-determination for themselves and their children. It is therefore an interpreted narration, accompanied by an evocative setting.
During the narration and thanks to a video projection system, a designer acts by adding a significant graphic - pictorial element. As an alter ego of the narrator and in a continuous counterpoint between the recited and narrated text, the designer enters the scene in the guise of a second character of the show.
The proceeds from the takings of the three Umbrian dates of the show will be donated to the Anti-Violence Centers of Umbria.
